Mortgage Protection

Authored By: RayAnn LaFord on 5/15/2023

If you’re like me, you tend to worry about the future. How will I make my mortgage payments if I’m injured and can’t work? What’s going to happen to my house if I pass away? These used to be questions I would lose sleep over. However, with the life and disability insurance programs offered through PFCU, these are things I’m no longer concerned about.

Here are the basics. There are three programs for life insurance and one for disability insurance. Both the primary and coborrowers are able to apply so no one gets left out. Unless, of course, there is an eligibility requirement that disqualifies you from receiving the protection. Not only are these insurances offered for new mortgages, but they are also available for all mortgages that are here with PFCU. We have a nice packet of information that explains each of the programs in detail so come in or call and we can provide you with that.

I’m sure some of you are out there thinking, “Sounds great, but how much is it going to cost me?”? Well, that depends on a few factors such as age, tobacco use, amount of loan, etc. I have seen some of these tack on only $10 or $20 each month. If covering your entire loan is a bit more than you were looking to spend, partial coverage is an option as well! Not a bad price, in my opinion, to pay for some peace of mind. If you’re interested, we can run a quote in minutes!
