Travel Notes

Authored By: Abby Runkel on 4/18/2023

Finally!! It is time to pack your bags and head for warm weather (or cold if you prefer!) You have your travel arrangements and lodging booked, your luggage packed, and itinerary complete. You’re all set, right? Wait! Did you let the Credit Union know you’d be traveling and using your debit/credit card while you’re gone?

When you try to use your card in uncommon locations without letting the Credit Union know, your transactions can be denied. This may also lead to your card being frozen, preventing other transactions from going through as well. This is a safety precaution to protect you against potential fraud.

Putting a travel note on your card is the best way to prevent you from being held up while away from home, and it is fast and easy!

To put a travel note on your card:

  1. Go to peninsulafcu.com and click on the ‘Savings & Checking’ tab at the top of the screen.
  2. Select ‘Debit/VISA® Card Travel Note’
  3. On that page, you will fill in your information along with the card info for the card(s) you plan to use while you are gone and where exactly you will be going. Make sure to be specific and cover every area you might possibly use your card. This includes layovers and stops you may make on your way to your destination.
  4. Click ‘Submit’ and check for the “The form has been successfully submitted.” Notification at the top of the screen.

If going online isn’t for you, you can always call or stop into the Credit Union. We would be happy to help get this filled out for you before you leave! Enjoy your trip!
